Orah's story
Why we created Orah.
We created Orah to give Jewish girls around the world a place to connect every day to their spirituality, their Torah and their mitzvot, to keep learning, and to belong to a Jewish sisterhood.
Orah started with my own experience. I am baalat teshuva and I grew up in a town with very few Jewish resources, so I had to search hard for content made for girls like me. In June 2025, I went to Israel to study at seminary, because I wanted to finally have a place to learn and to feel more connected to my spirituality. The day I arrived, the 12-day war with Iran began, and I spent those days in bomb shelters in Herzliya instead of in a classroom in Jerusalem. That is when I understood that spirituality and learning should not belong to one place. We needed a platform made specifically for women, in many languages, where we could learn to pray from A to Z, find teachings from many different rebbetzins, and learn through love and without judgment. I started Orah to be that place. Then other women from around the world joined me, each bringing her own story, and Orah became something we are daily building together.
Our team is made up of Jewish women with different backgrounds and different levels of observance which is what makes it so special. Together, we are all bringing our different strengths and experiences to make this project come to life. With rebbetzins and educators from many countries, we bring programs to girls from different religious levels, and from every culture. Everyday, we create Orah together to bring more light into the world.
Come join us and help build a world where every Jewish woman has Torah at her fingertips and a sisterhood by her side!
